Computer Help

For many years I have been kept busy with phone calls from friends, family and others looking for help with their computer problems. While most were interested in learning and over time are able to manage most of their own problems. Some never seem to learn or
were content to have someone else look after their problems.

By nature, I like to help people and often found it hard to say no to their requests for help. With more and more people getting computers the calls continued to increase to the point where it was taking too much of my spare time. As my son got older, he handled some calls. This was still an unfair time consuming project.. Most callers are looking for free help.. Some of the same people would take their computers to a service shop when they couldn't get them to work by them self. The same people would never even offer to buy us a cup of coffee for our help and time.. Finally in an attempt to get our lives back, it was necessary
to change to an unlisted phone number.. We have now limited the number of calls to friends only but that to can be time consuming.

We know that getting help with your computer can be expensive. No one tells people, when they buy a computer, that service shops charged more to fix them than the garage charges
to work on your car.. For an inexperienced user, keeping a computer running can be a very expensive. Most of their questions and problems can be easily solved by using the many resources available on the internet. I make no claim to knowing all the answers, nor I'm not extra smart. I just take the time to read manuals, technical information and make use of the excellent information that can be found on the internet. You can do the same thing for yourself.

This web site is our attempt to provide a collection of excellent links to most of the help you will need to keep your computer running. You'll also find some links to online tests and some excellent free software. We'll try to continue updating and improving this site.

A few things that you should consider: (RTFM - read the fine manual)

1) - Read the manuals, instructions, readme files and any other information provided with you hardware
and/or software. Use the internet to search for help with your problem. Where do you think we find
the answers to solve computer problems.

2) - If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
- installing the latest drivers and bios updates may cause more harm than good!

3) - Don't be first to install and try everything new
- UNLESS you are prepared to accept the consequences... let some one else try it :-)

4) - BACKUP... BACKUP... BACKUP
- Always have a current backup of your system, if something goes wrong you can
always restore your computer to a working state.
